One Of The Largest Ethylene Glycol CO
This is the CO cryogenic unit of SCG Yulin Chemical, a 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol project. It was put into use in September 2022.
In May 2024, a liquid-phase methanol entrainment accident occurred, which led to the oxidation and coking of methanol on the adsorption cylinder wall, and the outlet CO2 content exceeded the standard, seriously affecting normal production, and causing the compression of adsorption cycle, even reduction and shutdown.
SCG Yulin Chemical consulted Air Liquide and UOP but with no solution, and could not address the technical challenges.
After technical communication, SNOWPEAK modified its steam pipeline, introduced medium-pressure steam, and loaded 123.12 tons of SNOWPEAK specific molecular sieve.
In May 2025, the unit was put back into use. Its outlet CO2 content is required to be less than 0.1 ppm, while the actual operating indicator was 0.01 ppm, far exceeding the expected. It is one of the largest ethylene glycol CO cryogenic separation projects in China at present..
